The process of buying bespoke blinds can be a confusing one, as there are so many options to choose from. And, so many different companies offering what look to be similar products. Nevertheless, with a product such as blinds it’s always worth the extra time looking at the different options. Making sure you can find the right product for you.
Gathering a number of quotes
While it may seem like all blinds are the same, it’s really only when you can directly compare the different types of blinds that you can see the difference in quality. This is one of the reasons why we always recommend a customer see up to three different companies.
However, sometimes it’s not always that easy to do that. This is simply because there are some companies who employ tactics designed to discourage it. You will often find companies who offer dramatic on-the-day discounts; that are only valid if a customer signs the contract immediately. After that the customer only has a small window to cancel the order if they want to go with another company.
In the past we’ve been contacted by many customers who needed an appointment quickly; so they could see other options within a small cancellation period. We always endeavour to see the customers within this window. But, it can be tricky at times if the sales person already has a lot of appointments booked in that time period.
Avoid sale tactics
A more recent tactic is being contacted by the surveyor very soon after the contract has been signed. While this may look like quick service, it’s also a way of reducing the cancellation window even further. This is because, once the survey is completed, the customer can no longer cancel their contract.
These types of tactics are designed only to lock-in orders; before a customer has had a chance to properly look at all the options. We encourage our customers to look at other companies. This is because we’re confident about how our blinds and service will look when compared to other ranges. We also are happy to leave a quote – or range of quotes – with a customer and let them come back to us in their own time, so they can properly think about what they want to do.
In our experience, this lower-pressure method of selling blinds means that customers are more likely to get the exact blinds they want, and so are more likely to be happy with the end result.
