Free-Hanging Bifold Door Blinds

Whether it’s for a kitchen, garden room, lounge, or office we have a wide range of free-hanging door blinds to suit

The Expert’s View On
Free-Hanging Bifold Door Blinds

It’s not always an easy decision between free-hanging or recess fitted blinds. Here, everything to keep in mind when it comes to free-hanging bifold door blinds.

It's All In The Detail...

GREAT FOR HEAT AND GLARE

If your room suffers from too much glare but you want fresh air, free-hanging window blinds can diffuse the light without losing the breeze.

WIDE RANGE OF FABRICS TO CHOOSE FROM

We’ve got a wide range of fabric options and colours, from honeycomb pleated Duette®, to a classic Pinoleum, or a modern roller blind in opaque or semi-sheer fabric. Your choice.

NO MECHANICS ON SHOW

Our roller and automated free-hanging blinds are all covered by an exclusive-to-Specialist Blinds cassette which can be customised to match your room. We offer 12 standard colours and can custom colour match using the RAL colour system.

SUITED TO AUTOMATION

Free-hanging door blinds can be automated which means they are fast, efficient and no cords get in the way, important for safety concerns about children and pets. Plus, they are especially useful in long door runs to avoid cords dropping down the middle.

Technical query? We answer some popular questions...

There are a range of ways to operate free-hanging bifold door blinds depending on size. The LiteRise® child safe system is ideal for manual operation as it can be used in blinds up to 3.6m wide. We also have a full range of electric blinds for bifold doors, including smart operation and full home automation integration.

Dim-out fabrics are available for our range of free-hanging folding door blinds. While it is possible to use dim-out fabrics for recessed bifold door blinds, we do not recommend this, particularly if you’re south facing, as the heat build up could potentially damage the glass on the doors. Free-hangin dim-out fabrics are normally a safer option as they sit further away from the glazing.

Many customers ask about black out bifold blinds. Whilst the fabrics themselves are blackout, there will often be small light gaps around the edges of the blinds.

If your folding doors open internally (so that the doors fold into the room instead of the outside), you can still have both recessed and free-hanging blinds. The only difference with internally opening doors is that you cannot have a free-hanging blind extended while the doors are open, as they would interfere with their operation.

We certainly do! We have our own factory in Kent where we handcraft all of our blinds, including bifold door roller blinds.

We have a wide range of fabrics to choose from, and our team can offer advice on the most suitable options to suit your needs.

If you’re considering roller blinds for bifold doors, we’re here to help.

We offer a wide range of blinds for bifolds to suit all tastes and budgets.

  • Bifold door roller blinds are a popular choice to help provide shade on warmer days, as well as insulation when it’s colder
  • Vertical blinds for bifold doors are a great choice if you’re looking for a versatile, minimalist look
  • Nordic drapes (similar to panel blinds for bifold doors) offer a modern look with a softer dappled light
