One of the most common reasons people tend to buy bespoke blinds is to help control heat in a room, which is why we have several ranges of thermal blinds designed to do exactly that. Whether it’s keeping the heat out during the warmer months, or creating a cozy and warm atmosphere during the winter – our fabrics have been designed to insulate and control temperature.
Honeycomb blinds are an extremely popular choice for both manual and electric thermal blinds. Their cellular design creates an insulating layer of air within the fabric of the blind itself, which helps trap heat. We have two main ranges of honeycomb blinds: the popular Duette® fabrics and our own SuperCell thermal fabrics.
The honeycomb structure of the cellular fabrics create an insulating layer to help reduce heat transmission.
Duette® and SuperCell honeycomb fabrics come in a wide range of colours and styles, so your thermal blinds can compliment the décor of your room.
The roller blind adds an extra layer of insulation, and helps reduce heat getting transferred through the frame of the doors themselves.
The cellular structure of this Duette® fabric creates one extra insulating layer, to help stop heat transmission.
Our wide range of both roller and cellular fabrics lets you mix and match with the style, allowing for some complimentary combinations.
Optional solar lining allows our Pinoleum blinds to help control the temperature in a room while still keeping its traditional look.
Solar lined Pinoleum is most affective in the roof of a conservatory, as that is where the majority of heat leaves the room.
Our made to measure thermal blinds can be used in a wide variety of different situations, shapes, and styles.

The work was done efficiently in the time estimated by the installer. Clear instructions were then given on the operation and maintenance of the blinds. The installer was courteous at all times.
Lastly, the blinds worked well in controlling the brightness and temperature of the conservatory. We had good advice to select good colours for the materials: the blinds looked good too.
We have a glass-roofed side extension to our kitchen which made the room unbearably hot in sunny weather. The blinds that Specialist Blinds installed have made a huge difference, making the room comfortable all year round.
The salesman that came was knowledgeable and businesslike. He did not employ double-glazing-style selling techniques which some other blinds companies went for. We were not strong-armed or made to feel that we had to sign right then.
The young man who installed the blinds was punctual, friendly, quick and polite. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
Our kitchen/diner is south facing with one wall taken up by bifold doors. In the summer (when the sun is out) the kitchen can overheat somewhat so we were after a product that protected us from heat in the summer and kept warmth in during the winter. The survey and fitting were delivered with absolute professionalism (they make it look so easy).
The blinds fit perfectly, look great and are easy to operate. Importantly they work perfectly (though they haven’t been tested in winter yet); they make such a difference to our house.
In most situations a honeycomb fabric such as Duette® or SuperCell are the best at controlling temperature.
Their structure is designed to help prevent heat transmission, and they can be fitted into a wide variety of different situations and sizes.
Temperature regulating blinds help reduce your heating bills in winter, as well as your air conditioning costs in summer.
When it comes to getting proper insulated blinds for winter, we would still mainly recommend our range of cellular fabrics. They offer the best combination of insulation, style and flexibility in fit.
Something to consider when looking at thermal blinds for winter is the position of the sun. As the sun is lower in the sky during that time of year, many people see the benefit of having thermal blinds both in a roof and on the side windows.
Insulating blinds help control temperature throughout the year. As well as keeping your room warmer in winter, they will also provide valuable shade in summer to reduce heat.
While honeycomb blinds are designed with an air gap to create insulation, there are some single-pleat fabrics that offer some thermal protection.
Our Solar Design™ pleated fabrics were designed as thermal blinds for conservatories, to help control heat and glare throughout the year.
Thermal electric blinds are a valuable addition to any home, offering a practical, stylish solution with added convenience.
We offer a wide range of remote control thermal blinds, which can be mains powered or battery operated. You can also opt to have them integrated with your home automation system, or controlled by Alexa.
Temperature regulating blinds can be beneficial throughout the home, but every home is different. It will depend which way your home faces, your window style and the amount of glazing you have in each room.
Roller blinds are an excellent choice for draught proofing large expanses of glazing as they help cover both the glass and frame. This helps to prevent draughts at the edges, as well as covering the chilly glass.
The best option for draught proof blinds is to create layers. For example, our cellular blinds can be recess fitted right next to the glass to prevent draughts. Add an extra layer with surface mounted roller blinds to cover the window or door frames for optimum performance.
We have hundreds of reviews from many happy customers over the years who have been overjoyed to be able to use their conservatory no matter what the weather.
SuperCell and Duette thermal conservatory blinds are a popular choice as the honeycomb structured fabric provides an extra insulating layer.
