Finding a blind to cover an extra wide window can sometimes be problematic; this is because there isn’t many companies in the industry which offer wider window blinds. At Conservatory Blinds Limited we have a number of blinds which can be over 4 meters wide.
pureaspect™ Gable Blinds
Gable windows are an interesting and unique glazing, helping to add natural light to a room. For this reason, many customers are now deciding to install them within loft conversions and social areas such as kitchens and living rooms. With this window becoming a popular trend; there has been an increased demand for our pureaspect™ gable blind products. We can manufacture this blind thanks to our years of experience in conservatory roof blinds; allowing us to install a single blind for a gable window with a maximum width of 4.4M (heavy duty). However, if the glazing is larger, we still only use a few blinds to cover the area to maintain a neat and integrated finish.
Extra Wide Lantern Roof Blinds
Another major trend in the home and design industry is lantern roofs and skylights. This type of glazing is normally found within an open-plan modern extension paired with a set of folding doors. Alternatively, they also offer an impressive addition to a traditional home within a timber-framed orangery. At Specialist Blinds Limited, we can manufacture our lantern roof blinds to accommodate windows up to 4 metres wide and 6 metres long using our Duette® pleated fabric. In most instances we can cover the entire glazing with just one single blind. This single blind retracts away neatly when not in use.
Free Hanging Extra Wide Window Blinds
Our free hanging windows blinds can be up to 4m wide in the following products:
This is a popular choice for those with large folding doors or conservatory side windows. We fit this type of blind above the window frame. In some cases it can cover the entire window or a number of windows with a single blind. When opting for a extra large free hanging window blind, we strongly recommend our motorised option for easy functioning.
Do Wider Blinds Cost More?
However, it is worth knowing that any blinds that are wider than 3m will cost more, because:
- The extra fabric and hardware that has to be used.
- The disproportionate cost of handling and assembling such a large blind.
- Blinds over 1.8m long are subject to special packing and must be segregated to avoid the risk of damage.
- Our installers’ vans have an absolute maximum load length of 3.1m, so longer blinds would either need to be carried on a roof rack or require special delivery.
For some homes extra wide window blinds are a great way to cover a space with a single shading solution which can be easily retracted. However, some prefer to have individual recessed fitted blinds to take complete control of the shading in their room. This allows the blinds to move depending on where the sun enters the room. No matter the window covering, we have a range of products which can provide your home with a unique and bespoke window covering solution.
