As bespoke blinds specialists, we’re used to tackling jobs that require levels of experience and expertise that are not found in most places. However one of the more specific areas of blinds that we work in involves integration with Home Automation systems. Full home automation can control anything from lighting, heating – and of course shading. Home automation roller blinds are becoming an increasingly popular bespoke choice for full home automation installations.

High-end roller blinds can offer a neat and modern look, offering both dim-out and semi-translucent options for complete control of your shading. They’re ideal for large floor-to-ceiling windows or larger sets of doors. When integrated into an existing home automation set-up they can become a part of your existing daily routines. You can set your blinds to automatically retract in the morning when needed, and to open and close when you’re away for added security.

But we can offer more than just home automation roller blinds. We are able to integrate our more bespoke blinds, such as gable blinds and lantern roof blinds, with the majority of home automation systems.  We can integrate them with the majority of home automation systems, including Lutron® Home Automation, Control4, Crestron Electronics® & Rako Controls®. This gives a level of control and quality of shading that is only possible from a true blind specialist such as ourselves.

Totally Wireless Operation

If you’re looking to wirelessly connect your blinds to your home automation system, we have several ways to do so. We can use the Somfy RTS (Radio Technology Somfy®) system to the home automation system via radio signal. This allows for control of up to 16 individual blinds or 16 different control zones. For single blinds we can use a Dry Contact Transmitter to connect to the system. This option is ideal if you’re only looking to connect a single lantern roof or gable blind.

We are also able to connect our own exclusive puresolo™ remote control system to home automation. Designed by our own team of experts, we have developed a unique connection interface with our puresolo™ control box. This allows it to connect to any system with an RS485 interface (excluding Control4).

Digital Wired Motors

Some home automation systems need the blinds to be directly wired in, so we offer an option for that too. We use the latest in digital motors to allow up to 200 blinds to be connected to a single system, without the need for a large amount of cables and wires to manage. This makes it a lot easier for a home automation installer to connect up all the blinds you need.

It’s important to note that a lot of complexity and expertise goes into these types of installations. Different home automation manufactures have different ways to connect to their equipment. This means that we have to have ways to connect to whatever the system may be. As a member of CEDIA, we are also committed to keeping up to date with the latest in home automation technology. We are able to work alongside your AV installers to ensure that our blinds are able to be integrated and programmed with your existing home automation set up.

If you’re looking to add blinds to your home automation set-up, contact a member of our sales team. They can go through the various options and recommend the best blinds for your system.
