Tall elegant windows are always a beautiful feature in building, but if you are looking for a little shade on hot sunny days, you may be thinking about custom made floor to ceiling blinds.

Here our Easy Guide to blinds for floor to ceiling windows…

As experts in modern blind technology,  we have been building uniquely shaped blinds for apex shaped windows for over 25 years and understand the challenges customers face with large feature glass walls. Our R&D team first developed our Pure™ gable blind products for use in gable-end conservatories, and these have been adapted for making large custom blinds for apex windows.

Our objective is always to use the minimum number of blinds we can to make sure our blinds are as unobtrusive as possible. Even on the largest builds, we aim to cover the glazing with as few blinds as possible, alongside small blinds for any awkward window shapes. We have even created blinds for our customers that cover not only the gable shape but extend below to cover the standard rectangular window or bifold door below—all with one blind.

Blinds for Windows in Any Shape

Over the past 25 years we have made blinds for customers from grand installations to smaller, more intimate projects. In every situation, our experts focus on delivering innovation and precision, even in the trickiest of spaces! Here, a few of our best blinds for full length windows.

Best Blinds for Arched Windows

Many companies struggle to fit blinds into the arch of a window without leaving large gaps or excess fabric hanging out, while others try covering a circle window with a square blind. We use our Pureâ„¢ gable blind technology to fit over curved windows, and have applied this approach to projects as large as a cathedral. Here, we were able to cover the idea with just one blind, using the same techniques we use for a shaped roof blind or apex window blind.

Best Blinds for Angled Windows

Our blinds for angled windows are perfect for customers who have  floor-to-ceiling windows in a room with a sloped ceiling. In this example, as you can see in the video, our gable blinds fit corner-to-corner and they retract with no visible cords or wires. Additionally, the blinds can barely be seen at the edge of the window when fully retracted. There is no gap here as we have fitted a small triangular blind into the corner of the angle. This is one of our specialities, some companies are  forced to  leave gaps where we create a bespoke solution.

In this case, our customer chose to install automated blinds and connected them to a smart home device. We also offer remote-control blinds and battery-operated blinds.

Best Floor to Ceiling Blinds for Apex Shaped Windows

As experts in modern blind technology, we are incredibly proud of our blinds for floor to ceiling windows. We believe it is a solution that no other company in the UK can provide. Here, we delivered a custom solution that covered the customer’s extremely large apex with just two electric gable blinds. As mentioned, our apex window blinds are often found above either windows or a set of folding doors. In this case the apex blinds are matched with recess-fit manual Duette® bifold blinds on the doors below.

For the best blinds for floor to ceiling windows you really do need a specialist. The high ceilings can often require a tower or scaffolding. We often recommend electric blinds for those hard-to-reach areas like apex windows or over large areas of glazing like electric bi-fold door blinds.

What fabrics are used in blinds for apex shaped windows?

  • Duette® Thermal Blinds: This fabric has a unique honeycomb structure. They are great for providing an extra layer of insulation in the winter and reflecting excess heat in the summer.
  • Pinoleum blinds: Offer a warm, traditional look and market-leading blind technology. Why? The delicately woven wooden slats retain heat in the winter and keep you cool in the summer.
  • Pleated blinds: Our pleated blinds have similar qualities to pinoleum and Duette® when it comes to regulating temperature. Originally designed them for conservatory roofs they are perfect for fitting in small triangle-shaped glazing.
