Do Thermal Blinds for Windows Work?

A lot of people look for blinds as a way to increase insulation in a room. This can be both to help keep the heat in during the colder months, and also as way to help prevent heat build-up during the summer. There are many benefits to installing thermal blinds for windows anywhere in your home. Our most popular range of thermal blinds is Duette® blinds, which are great for shading your home and thermal regulation. The honeycomb structure of our Duette® blinds means that they trap air between the two layers of fabric – insulating your home. Our fabric’s design is also useful when reflecting the sun, making them useful all year round.

Do Duette® thermal blinds keep your room warm?

There are several locations we recommend installing thermal blinds for the best results.

In a conservatory…

Our thermal blinds are especially popular in conservatories as conservatories face extreme temperatures in the summer and winter. It’s difficult to keep your conservatory comfortable with rain or snow on the other side of the glass. Especially when you take into consideration that heat escapes through your glazing! So our made-to-measure blinds offer corner-to-corner coverage that other companies simply can’t provide, to help insulate your conservatory and control the temperature.

With over 25 years of experience crafting orangery and conservatory blinds, we specialise in making unique triangle window blinds for the awkward shapes in conservatory roofs. Additionally, our experience in triangular blinds means we are great for shading and insulating gable-end conservatories with gable blinds. If you have the neatest possible fit and blinds created specifically for a conservatory, less heat will escape through your windows and your blinds will last years even with extreme temperatures.

Individual Lantern Roof Blinds

On a lantern roof…

Duette® lantern roof blinds and roller blinds for lantern roofs are our most popular solutions for shading a lantern roof. Whether it’s a lantern roof for an orangery or simply one in your kitchen, you will notice results after thermal blinds are installed. Our more popular lantern roof blinds run across the base of your lantern horizontally so you only need one or two blinds to cover the area. These are effective blinds for insulation as when extended they separate the cool air around your lantern from your main room, ‘reducing’ the square volume of the room you need to heat. Additionally, the thermal blind material will also trap heat from escaping through your glazing, insulating it further.

On bifold doors…

Any large areas of glazing like bifold doors are susceptible to heat loss which blinds can reduce. Around your home, you can even install a combination of blinds. Duette® blinds for bifold doors fit into the recess of the door frame and with free-hanging roller blinds on top, there will be two blinds to aid with insulation. Having two layers will double the insulation in your home by giving you another barrier.

Do Duette® thermal blinds for windows save you money on household bills?

Duette® thermal blinds for windows are a long-term solution for keeping your home warmer in the winter. Since the thermal material traps heat, as aforementioned, it therefore will make the most of your current heat in the room and reduce the amount you have to spend on heating bills in the long run.

Customer reviews

I hadn’t ever bought conservatory blinds before but this company made the process very straightforward. The fitter Richard was extremely helpful and has done an excellent job. I’m very happy with the blinds, both the quality and the fitting.

I would like to express my thanks for the excellent service I have had from your company. I telephoned yesterday, to explain that I had broken one of the clips on our pleated blinds, and received replacement clips today, just 24 hours later. Customer Service at it’s best.

The work was carried out excellently we are very satisfied with the blinds and the way they were fitted, they look lovely. We would definitely use this company again. We had already had two quotes and had almost decided on another supplier but changed our minds when we saw Conservatory Blinds and are so pleased we did.

The thing we particularly like about these blinds is that they go almost into the corners of the windows of the roof unlike all the others we had seen, which have a wider gap.
