Only free-hanging blinds fitted in front of a set of doors can be motorsied, and come with both smart control and home automation connectivity.
A mix of a motorised free-hanging blind with manual recessed blinds gives total flexibility and maximum protection against heat and glare.
One of the benefits of having blinds fitted in front of the doors is that it helps insulate both the glass panel and the door frame itself, which decreases overall heat transmission.
Custom coloured hardware allows the blinds to compliment the colour of the doors, for an integrated look.
Apart from roller blinds there is a large selection of free-hanging blinds to pick from, including Duette®, Japandi Vision Blinds, Vertical blinds and Nordic Drapes.
Thanks to the neat recess-fit of our Pureâ„¢ blinds, we can fit the blinds directly into each panel - so they don't get in the way of the movement of the door.
A cellular blind, such as Duette®, are an excellent choice for folding door blinds due to their thermal properties - keeping the room cool and comfortable.
One of the benefits of having the blinds fitted to the panels of the door is that there is nothing obstructing the view when the doors are opened.

Considering them? Do it!!! Amazing.
We’d had our gable window & 5 meter bifolds for 3 years before getting blinds. I saw an installation on Instagram and only then realised you could get amazing electric blinds. I sent off an enquiry, arranged a chap to come & give me a quote. Pretty sure his name was Andy. Brilliant service and talked through the options.
Got electric blinds for gable (triangle) window and blinds that sit in the bifold recess and can open from top of bottom. Install was by Jeff who did the survey also. Overall from enquiry to install was 3 months ish which I thought was quick. The quality and fit is amazing. Also got French door bifold blinds in another room (black out ones).
Total cost was c. £7.5K so not cheap but I didn’t fall off my chair. After previously using other well know natural blind/ shutter companies I was realistic in what you have to pay for quality.
This certainly didn’t disappoint… I am over the moon. We can now watch TV again in the evenings during summer, and the heat is definitely improved, the blinds allow the room to be so much cooler. The service has been great. My only regret, I hadn’t discovered Specialist Blinds sooner. Thank you to the whole team!
Our kitchen/diner is south facing with one wall taken up by bi-fold doors. In the summer (when the sun is out!) the kitchen can overheat somewhat. We were after a product that protected us from heat in the summer and kept warmth in the winter.
The survey and fitting were delivered with absolute professionalism (they make it look easy).
The blinds fit perfectly, look great and are easy to operate. Importantly they work perfectly (although they haven’t been tested in winter yet), but they make such a difference to our house.
Just had blinds fitted on my bi-fold doors. To say I am pleased would be an understatement. They look fantastic and the service from Jon was impeccable. He was so friendly and informative and the attention to detail was excellent.
He certainly made the whole experience easy and it was much appreciated.
Having just had a new kitchen extension built with south-facing bi-fold doors, we had been looking for blinds on the doors. On the face of it, the task sounded simple, but there aren’t actually a lot of companies who do them that actually work.
We were impressed by Conservatory Blinds [now Specialist Blinds] and their representative Colin who was very helpful and showed us actual samples in our property. We chose the Duette® range of pleated blinds which fit perfectly and are very easy to operate.
On the day the blinds were fitted, the installer Dan fitted them in under a couple of hours. A superb company.
Bi-fold door blinds work by fitting blinds directly into each panel of the doors, which allows for the addition of shading while keeping the smooth operation of the doors. For the best results in controlling tempurature, we recommended using these invididual blinds alongside a free-hanging blind fitted in front of the entire set of doors.
We use our own Pureâ„¢ technology to recess fit blinds into each panel of the folding door. This means that you can add shading to each individual panel of the door, without getting in the way of its operation.
With both individual and free-hanging folding door blinds, there is no limit to how many panels we can cover. With the individual blinds, we add one blind per panel. Depending on the overall width of the door we may need more than one free-hanging blind to cover the entire area.
Yes, adding the extra insulating layer of bespoke blinds will help stop heat transmission and give you a more comfortable roof throughout the year. A large amount of heat is transmitted through the actual frame of the doors, which is why we recommend a combination of both individual and free-hanging blinds to maximise insulation.
Yes absolutely! We have our own paint room and powder coating facilities in our factory, so all of our components and blind rails are available in 12 popular colours as standard.
If you need something a little different, we can also colour-match to any RAL colour.
