Top Down Bottom Up Blinds - Are They Worth It?

Are Top Down Bottom Up Blinds worth it?

Top down bottom up blinds are blinds that sit in a “floating stack” in the middle of your window.  You can then pull them down from the bottom or lift them from the top since the tension of the cord ensures they stay where left. They are very popular in different forms of side windows or doors, our most popular being our Duette® blinds for bifold doors.

Maximum Shading with Top Down Bottom Up Blinds

Your shading is much more customisable when you can operate your blinds in both directions. It allows you to precisely position the blinds to block out just the area where the sun is entering the room; while keeping the rest of the glass uncovered so you can enjoy the view.

If you would like a more effective dimout effect, then we suggest combining your recess-fit blinds with free-hanging dimout blinds. That way you can choose to have your view entirely visible or almost entirely blacked out for a darker room. This dimout effect is most often used in bedrooms or cinema rooms.

The Floating Rail System

Bifold Duette

Floating rails are majorly effective when installing window coverings for bifold doors and blinds for standard rectangular windows.

We can use a floating rail system with our pure™ range of pleated blinds, with both our own Solar Design™ single-layer fabric and the Duette® bifold door blinds fabric. This system combines the flexibility of the floating rail with the neat fit and design of our pure™ blinds. With our made to measure fit, both fabrics can stop heat from escaping through the glazing of you bifold doors. Although, our Duette® fabrics are more popular due to their thermal insulation properties.

The Tru Fit drill-free system is also designed to have a floating rail. It works as a great alternative to our pure™ system for top down bottom up blinds. Either way, our rails are so thin that the blinds do not affect the operation of the doors.

Open and Shut Your Bifolds!

Bifold Door Blinds

The major reason these rail systems are so popular, is due to their recess-fit. By fitting the blinds just in front of the window pane rather than having it as a free-hanging motorised roller blind for bifold doors, you can fold your door shut without any interruption. Whether you want your blinds extended or retracted!

When retracted, your bifold door blinds fold away so neatly, you can barely even tell they are there. Which is perfect for those brighter days when you want to let natural light bathe your room. However, when extended they can aid in controlling temperatures, reducing glare, and providing privacy.

If you think you’d need an extra level of control over your window shading; speak to a member of our sales team and they can go through the different options with you to find a perfect solution for your home.

Customer reviews

Our kitchen/diner is south facing with one wall taken up by bifold doors. In the summer (when the sun is out) the kitchen can overheat somewhat so we were after a product that protected us from heat in the summer and kept warmth in during the winter.

The survey and fitting were delivered with absolute professionalism (they make it look so easy). The blinds fit perfectly, look great and are easy to operate.

Importantly they work perfectly (though they haven't been tested in winter yet); they make such a difference to our house.

Having just had a new kitchen extension built with south facing bi-fold doors we had been looking for blinds for the doors.

On the face of it, the task sounded simple but there aren't many companies who do them that actually work.

We were impressed with Conservatory Blinds and with their representative Colin who was very helpful and who was able to show us actual samples in our property. We chose their Duette range of pleated blinds which fit perfectly and are very easy to operate.

On the day the blinds were fitted, the fitter Dan fitted them in under a couple of hours. A superb company.

We started with a non pushy salesman who knew exactly how the product functioned and took into account what I wanted and explained and advised every step of the way.

The fitter was brilliant, no fuss, no mess and he ensured I was completely happy with the fitting as he proceeded. When he - not me - was not happy with the result at the end he adjusted the blind mechanism so that everything worked perfectly. It was an excellent job, totally customer orientated and an excellent product. I would certainly recommend the company.

The website is clear, easy to navigate and gives you all the information you need with plenty of pictures. There are even price ranges to give an idea of cost. The only picture I couldn't find was of blinds over sliding doors which could be relevant to some people as it was to me.

For me you are a model company that many others could aspire to.
