Classic Duette Blinds

Can’t decide which blind to choose? We can help with that…

It can be overwhelming picking the right blind. Choosing between electric, automated or manual is daunting enough for practical thinkers. When it comes to our customers who are style enthusiasts or home renovators, making the right decision can be tricky. After all, our homes are an expression of ourselves, our personality and our style. We believe the right blind should lift a room and blend in perfectly. Not sure how to decide? Here are a few style options:

CLASSIC

Let’s face it, you are going to have these blinds for a long time. You know—whether it is a vintage watch or a perfect little black dress—that investment pieces are a wise idea. These blinds are the classics of our range. They are timeless in design and sit well with classic interior styling. And, as with everything we make, they are custom made to precision measurements from our own installation team.

Modern Gable Blinds

DUETTE® PLEATED BLINDS

What They Are:
Duette® blinds are pleated, made of two layers of fabric in a honeycomb structure that trap air between its layers,  cooling your room in summer and keeping it warmer in winter.
Why They’re Classic:

We love these blinds. They update tired rooms, look beautifully polished when automated and are extremely versatile when it comes to large projects like full length gable windows (we’ve even done a cathedral in our time). Customers who are worried about privacy often choose Duette®, and they are the best choice for temperature control.

MODERN

You have a love of clean lines, and as our colleague Tom would say, a ‘neat’ finish. Sofas can be welcoming, but not fussy or old fashioned. You have just built a new extension with a little too much glare, or your love of sunlight has brought you to a house with floor to ceiling windows. Now you want privacy and climate control without compromising on taste.

VISION BLINDS

What They Are:

Vision blinds, also known as zebra blinds, are made of two layers of semi-transparent and opaque horizontally striped fabric which move independently of each other. This allows the blinds to transition seamlessly between two phases: translucent and dim-out .

Why They’re Modern:

Vision blinds play with illusion, creating a venetian blind effect. Both transparent and opaque at once, they are statement blinds that bring their own distinctive style to a room. Close to art deco or retro in feel, they pair beautifully with vintage pieces or structured modernist furniture.

VERTICAL BLINDS

What They Are:

Simply put, vertical blinds are strips of blind fabric, attached horizontally to a rail that pivots and tilts to offer partial or complete shade. Many clients leave them fully extended for privacy, but they can be retracted compactly with no messy cords to obstruct the view.

Why They’re Modern:

Perfect for offices and home offices, these are a practical and efficient choice. They are also very effective in large architectural spaces that call for clean, mathematical precision.

NORDIC DRAPES

What They Are:

New to Specialist Blinds, these drapes-slash-blinds do it all. Especially useful for large windows, Nordic Drapes are a unique combination of vertical blind and soft voile. They excel at smoothing out a not quite perfect view, and offer privacy without losing too much light.

Why They’re Modern:

These blinds are ingenious, they really are part drape, part blind. The solution for those who want a very crisp fold, an immaculate look and might want to soften the view outside.

HYGGE

The Danish concept of Hygge is about a feeling of cosiness and contentment achieved through simple pleasures, and a welcoming atmosphere that fosters well-being. You love making your home a calm, comforting space for relaxing and enjoying family. Call it modern cosy, a style that is warm and inviting without being fussy and old fashioned.

Pinoleum Orangery Blinds

PINOLEUM

What They Are:

Pinoleum blinds are made of fine wooden slats woven together and bound on the side with binding tape. Pinoleum blinds operate in a similar way  to roman blinds, retracting into gentle folds, and can be automated or manually operated.

Why They’re Hygge:

Pinoleum excels at creating Hygge, adding immediate warmth and texture to a room—especially when the blinds are extended and dappled patterns of sunlight drift  through the room. Traditionally used in conservatories and orangeries, pinoleum is now used all around the house, from kitchens and living rooms, to room dividers.
