Neat Apex Window Blinds

Posted: 7 Jun 2021

What do you do when you have Apex windows in your living room; and are struggling to find blinds that fit?

We had a customer in Staffordshire with an apex window facing this problem. This type of window is similar found in a Gable-End conservatory, but it was featured within her living room. This created ample natural light and a beautiful structure, but consequently it left them with glare and very little privacy.

Similarly, this window has a complex shape which most window blind companies struggle to fit to. Compared to a standard square of rectangular-shaped window, Apex windows are unique. But not to us.

For a more unusual window shape like this, you need to look for a more customised solution; like what we at Specialist Blinds offer.

Due to their complex-shaped window, we were able to apply our years of expertise in conservatory blinds to this window. As you can see in the above photo, we are able to neatly fit our blinds over the entire apex window. We covered the triangular window from point-to-point.

After we fitted the blinds, the customer sent in this wonderful review into our website, saying how happy she is with her blinds:

Customer Review

“We had blinds fitted for our apex Windows. We were initially unsure of where or who to go to for advice (architects don’t tell you about this problem when choosing your extension!). We hadn’t thought about conservatory blinds for a living room. We could not be more pleased, they are one of the best purchases for our extension – exactly what was required. I feel so pleased that if anyone wishes to see ‘in place’, we would be happy to show them.

Excellent professional service, highly recommended. And no, I don’t know anybody in the company!”

To cover the apex window, we used our pureaspect™ Gable Blinds, which not only cover the shaped part of the window but also extend down to cover rectangular shape beneath it. We then installed three matching window blinds for the rest of the glazing. All of the blinds used Duette® gable fabric in the dark shade of ‘Slate’, one of the Montana rage of Duette® fabrics.

The darker shade of the Slate fabric means that it will be more efficient at keeping out both heat and UV light, making the room more comfortable during the sunnier days, while the honeycomb construction of the Duette® fabrics means it will also improve insulation when the weather gets colder. Additionally, this will protect furniture and flooring from UV damage, preventing them from fading over time.
