Specialist Blinds Survey Visit

The survey visit is when a member of our installation team takes the final measurements for your blinds, and goes over any of the small technical details that you need to know about your blinds.

This can be specifics about the location of wiring and power supplies, to finalising details about your fabrics and fitting.

After the survey is complete your installer will be able to give you an estimated time for installing the blinds when they visits you at survey. They will also book your installation date at that time.

Do I Need To Be Present At The Survey?

As the survey is the final step before your blinds are manufactured, it’s important that someone is there with the surveyor to go through any final details about your order. If you are unable to attend survey then we will make your blinds using our best endeavours but cannot accept any liability for anything that is not exactly as you imagined it.

Without discussing your order in detail at survey, there is always a risk that your expectations may differ from what we have recommended.

For your convenience, our surveyor will make a short video summary of the survey, which will be emailed to you a short time after the visit. This allows you to review all of the details discussed at survey, and share it with anyone who was not able to be present.

How Does The Survey Work?

The surveyor takes detailed measurements of all of the areas where the blinds are installed. While the consultant does also measure up at your quotation visit, the measurements taken here will be even more precise, so we can manufacture true bespoke blinds that fit with minimal gaps.

In addition to measuring all of your glazing and roof angles, as well as checking the fitting options and positions, we also need to go through the order with you in as much detail as possible – as it is from the survey that we make your blinds. If you need to make any changes (however minor) this must happen at survey otherwise it will cost more money and take longer.

In the majority of cases, the fitter performing the survey will also be the one returning for the final installation, so they can use the survey to account for any tricky areas before the install.

What Do I Need To Do Before The Visit?

The most important thing to do before the survey visit is make sure the area is clear, so we have easy access to where the blinds are installed.

For lantern roof blinds, this will usually mean ensuring the entire area below the lantern is clear, so our surveyor can measure every part of it. With conservatories this often means the entire room needs to be kept clear.

Note that in most cases our surveyor will need to remove any existing blinds in order to complete the survey as they are often in the way of our taking accurate measurements. Unfortunately, current legislation means that we cannot take away your old blinds away ourselves.
