Finding the Perfect Blinds for Folding Doors

Bi-fold doors are a popular addition to any home. However, it’s around this time of year we start to get people looking for blinds for folding doors. Many want to increase privacy and better temperature control in their room. The neatest way to fit blinds for folding doors is to have a blind fitted to each individual panel of the doors. There are several ways to fit blinds, that doesn’t interfere with the operation of the doors.

pure™ Blinds for Folding Doors

The main way we recommend to fit blinds into bi-fold doors is using our pure™ Conservatory Blinds. We developed our unique pure™ rail system as a way to neatly fit recessed blinds into conservatories. However, it also allows us to fit blinds for folding doors. We can use this system with both single pleat and Duette® Thermal folding door fabrics, which are available in a wide range of colours to suit your room’s existing décor. This style of blind also comes with the added benefit of being available with our custom coloured rails and components. This means, the blinds can look like a natural part of the folding doors.

 

Tru Fit System

Tru Fit is a drill-free method of fitting blinds. This method is small and neat enough to be fitted into a set of folding doors. Like the pure™ Blinds, it can be used with both single-pleat and Duette® fabrics, and also operates with a floating rail for maximum control over your shading.

 

What about Perfect Fit Blinds for Folding Doors?

Occasionally we get asked if it’s possible to use the Perfect Fit blind system in a set of bi-folding doors. Perfect Fit is a popular drill-free DIY solution for window blinds. However, they are only useful in a small amount of situations and not with large glazing:

• The large frame needed for the Perfect Fit system takes up a lot of the window.
• If the frame is too large this can effect the operation of the doors.

For these reasons we would not recommended them for any type of folding doors
