Insulating your windows is essential for maintaining comfort and protecting your home. Without proper insulation, rooms can become uncomfortably hot during summer and too cold in winter, making it difficult to enjoy a consistent indoor temperature. Harsh sunlight can also cause glare, reducing visibility and comfort throughout the day. Over time, UV rays can fade and damage furniture, flooring, and décor. Thermal blinds offer an effective solution by helping to create a stable, comfortable environment while also improving energy efficiency and reducing the strain on heating and cooling systems.
Honeycomb blinds are an extremely popular choice. Their cellular design creates an insulating layer of air within the fabric of the blind itself, which helps trap heat. We have two main ranges of honeycomb blinds: the popular Duette® fabrics and our own SuperCell thermal fabrics.
The honeycomb structure of the cellular fabrics create an insulating layer to help reduce heat transmission.

Duette® and SuperCell honeycomb fabrics come in a wide range of colours and styles, so your thermal blinds can compliment the décor of your room.
The roller blind adds an extra layer of insulation, and helps reduce heat getting transferred through the frame of the doors themselves.
The cellular structure of this Duette® fabric creates one extra insulating layer, to help stop heat transmission.
Our wide range of both roller and cellular fabrics lets you mix and match with the style, allowing for some complimentary combinations.
Optional solar lining allows our Pinoleum blinds to help control the temperature in a room while still keeping its traditional look.
Solar lined Pinoleum is most affective in the roof of a conservatory, as that is where the majority of heat leaves the room.

Their structure is designed to help prevent heat transmission, and they can be fitted into a wide variety of different situations and sizes.
When it comes to getting proper insulated blinds for winter, we would still mainly recommend our range of cellular fabrics. They offer the best combination of insulation, style and flexibility in fit.
Something to consider when looking at thermal blinds for winter is the position of the sun. As the sun is lower in the sky during that time of year, many people see the benefit of having thermal blinds both in a roof and on the side windows.
While honeycomb blinds are designed with an air gap to create insulation, there are some single-pleat fabrics that offer some thermal protection.
Our Solar Design™ pleated fabrics were designed to be used in conservatories, to help control heat and glare throughout the year.
Our thermal fabrics are available with a wide range of motorisation options, including battery powered blinds and full home automation integration.
Where exactly thermal blinds will make a difference will depend on what type of glazing it is. For conservatories and orangeries, most heat escapes via the roof, so thermal fabrics are an obvious choice for roof blinds.
For side blinds, it also makes sense to have thermal blinds to prevent heat escaping through the windows.
Roller blinds are an excellent choice for draught proofing large expanses of glazing as they help cover both the glass and frame. This helps to prevent draughts at the edges, as well as covering the chilly glass.
The best option for draught proof blinds is to create layers. For example, our cellular blinds can be recess fitted right next to the glass to prevent draughts. Add an extra layer with surface mounted roller blinds to cover the window or door frames for optimum performance.
