At Conservatory Blinds Limited we are frequently asked what type of blinds are best for conservatories?  This doesn’t tend to be a simple answer. This is because, depending on the structure and design of your conservatory depends on which blinds will look best. Therefore, we have explained which blinds are best for the three most common conservatories:

  • Timber-framed conservatories
  • UPVC conservatories
  • Aluminium conservatories

Timber Conservatories

If you have a timber conservatory or orangery, it can be difficult to find blinds that actually keep with the décor and feel of the room. This is because, most blinds are suited for the look of a white UPVC conservatory rather than the natural look of timber.

For this reason, a lot of people with timber conservatories opt for our pure™ Pinoleum Blinds.  This type of blind offers a natural wooden look while also being effective at reducing glare and increasing privacy throughout the year. Alongside the natural look of the pinoleum weave; we are also able to go the extra mile and make sure that every part of the blind also fits in with the look of the conservatory. This is from the fit of the roof blinds to the colour of the non-wooden components.

When choosing the fabric colour for pinoleum blinds; customers can choose from any Farrow & Ball® colour. As you can see from the photos below, the blinds look like a proper part of the décor, instead of an addition after-the-fact.

We were able to add blinds to the conservatory that looked like they had always been there, while at the same time making the room a more comfortable space throughout the year, especially with the sunny weather just round the corner.

UPVC Conservatories

UPVC conservatories are probably the most popular type of conservatory; found in many homes around the UK. However, most of them will have some unusual shaped windows which need to be covered by blinds. If a company primarily deals with house blinds, they might not be equipped to deal with shapes that aren’t basic rectangles or triangles. Therefore, they would either have to leave those areas bare, or use a larger blind to cover the entire area, which ends up looking unsightly. Because we are conservatory blinds specialists, we have plenty of experience dealing with unusually shaped glazing. When installing blinds for UPVC conservatories we suggest either our pure™ Pleated Blinds or Duette® blinds. These types of blinds are able to cover almost any area in a conservatory; including very narrow windows. In fact, the narrowest blind we have ever made was only 39mm wide, and only possible thanks to the unique methods and equipment we use to make our blinds.

Blinds For Aluminium Conservatories

Many customers with aluminium conservatories think blinds cannot be installed in their room. This is because, various aluminium conservatories are shaped in such a way where neatly fitted blinds would be impossible; normally featuring a number of large bolts which could interfere with the operation of the blinds or leave large gaps. Thanks to our years of experience in the industry and specialist mounting profiles; we are able to overcome this problem in aluminium conservatories. This makes it possible for our customers to have bespoke blinds in their room which neatly fit around obstructions.  Similar to UPVC conservatories we recommend either our recessed  pure™ pleated blinds or Duette® blinds;  as we have designed both of them to cover different shaped windows and areas. However, in the past customers have opted for pinoleum blinds for their aluminium conservatory to help maintain a traditional decor in their room.
Overall, we can offer our customers with several blind options to suit their conservatory structure, style and decor. To find the best type of blinds for your conservatory arrange a free quotation today!
